My family has a long association with the Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo. My parents are graduates of St. Augustine High School. My four siblings and I are graduates of St. Monica and Hackett Catholic Central and I have numerous relatives that have graduated from the CSGK schools. My three sons all graduated from St. Monica, my oldest, Jack, graduated from HCC with the class of 2009 and now attends Dominican University in River Forest, IL. My son Kevin is in the HCC class of 2012 and Dan is in the class of 2013. My wife, Mary, attended Catholic elementary and high school in Chicago, IL. I am a Podiatrist with offices in Portage and the Specialty Clinics at Three Rivers Health and am involved in various professional activities. Mary is a Registered Nurse working at Bronson Methodist Hospital.
My involvement with the school boards began with the Strategic Planning committee in 1999 prior to the establishment of what we now call CSGK. I was elected to the St. Monica Education Commission (now LAC) in 2000. I served there until 2006 as the finance chair and was president of that LAC for a year and an half. I became a member of the CSGK finance committee in 2003 and served as chair of that committee from 2004 until 2008. I was a lay member of the CSGK board from 2006 until 2008 when I became a member of the HCC LAC. I continue on the CSGK board as the HCC LAC representative. I have been a member of the St. Monica Parish finance council since 2001 and was honored as the HCC Alumnus of the Year in 2006.
